Welcome back to Tag Week!  I first saw this tag on MeMyselfandEm and decided to do it myself.  Here are my answers to the Glasses Tag.

1. How long have you been wearing glasses?

I shamefacedly had my first ever eye test when I was 16, and that’s when I began wearing glasses as the optician told me I needed them straight away.

2. What were your first pair of glasses like?

Round and purple frames.  I didn’t really have a clue about what suited me or anything, one minute I didn’t wear glasses and the next I was being told I needed them fulltime.  I just went for my favourite colour!

3. How often do you wear your glasses?

All day everyday.

4. How many pairs of glasses do you have?

Three.  I’ve had the same prescription for years so a couple are a few years old, then I brought a new one into the mix last year to change things up a bit.  My life is so exciting…!

5. Where did you get your glasses?

I used to get them in Specsavers, but now I’m more likely to do it online with Glasses Direct.  It’s so much hassle to go to an optician if you don’t need an eye test, there are always long queues.

6. How long sighted or short sighted are you?

I’m quite short sighted, so I can read without my glasses on, but that’s about the only thing I do without my glasses.

7. What prescription are your glasses?

One eye is 0.75 and the other is 1.25.

8. Do your family members wear glasses?

Yes, my parents do.

9. What do you think about wearing glasses?

It’s never really bothered me.  I think of them as a part of my outfit, and they make life easier, so I have no reason to mind wearing them.

10. Do you wear contact lenses?

Yes, about two years ago I finally plucked up the courage to get contact lenses.  I absolutely hated the thought of touching my eyes, but I wanted to wear contact lenses for when I went out and to encourage me to do more with eye makeup.  After a few goes, I got the hang of it, and now wear contacts a couple of times a week.

11. How much can you see without your glasses?

I can ‘see’ everything, but it’s all blurry around the edges.  I can’t make out the detail on anything.

12. Do you have advice for young people that are not comfortable with wearing glasses?

Yes.  The main thing is you will get used to wearing them, and you will appreciate being able to see so much better with them on!  There are so many great styles to choose from these days, even more than when I was a teenager.  Pick a pair you like, rock a smile and live your life.

Do you wear glasses?

  • I wear glasses too, but my prescription is much higher. I like wearing my glasses and I wouldn’t try lenses because I don’t like the idea.

  • I could live without lenses, but I like having the option.

  • Alisha Valerie.

I wear glasses and have been offered contact lenses but the thought of putting them near my eyes scares the crap out of me. I love this tag though babe and your answers are so honest and open, wonderful post! Thanks for sharing 🌸💗✨

  • I know exactly what you mean about lenses, that’s what put me off for years. My boyfriend and family refuse to be in the room when I put my lenses in because they freak out! Glad you like the post, I still feel that there’s a stigma around glasses and I wanted to be honest about my experiences.

What an interesting tag to read. I’ve always wanted to wear glasses, although I did have to wear some at one point for reading. It I say on then and never got new ones haha

  • Ah you’re opposite to me then, reading is about all I can do without glasses!

  • I’m hugely short sighted too! If I’m without my glasses or contact lenses, I am practically blind haha! Now that I have a frame I love, I really don’t mind wearing specs – like you say, they’re just part of an outfit!

  • I think that thinking of glasses as part of an outfit is a fun way to look at it!

  • I’m very near sighted…but I can’t read without my glasses on…I have astigmatism in both eyes….and it’s gotten so bad that I can’t wear contacts anymore. You’ve only had three glasses? I’ve had too many to even count–but that’s because my vision deteriorates every 2 years or so! I’ve been wearing glasses since I was about 8 (almost 20 years now). My first pair was big and plastic and PINK. But, my favorite pair was the pair I had before this current pair–it’s actually the pair in my Disqus profile pic…the sides of the frames were orange with vines. I LOVED it and it fit my personality so well. But, they started to get really old and dirty in all the cracks and crevices.

  • I have 3 pairs now, then I had the purple round ones at school and I think I had another pair during school too at some point…. I tend to go for sides (arms?) which are just plain and solid so maybe that’s why my pairs last so long. Aw I bet you looked cute in the pink pair as a child!

  • I’ve never had to have glasses – I’ve always had pretty good sight. I went to the opticians recently and weirdly, he said I’m slightly long sighted in one eye and short sighted in the other! Not bad enough to news glasses for but maybe in the future, especially seeing as I work on the computer all day!

  • That’s interesting, not heard of that before!
